Chinese Consul General in Cape Town Ren Faqiang Attends Donation Ceremony of South Africa Soong Ching-Ling Foundation

On August 20, 2026, Ren Faqiang, Chinese Consul General in Cape Town, attended by invitation a charity donation event at Silikamva High School in Cape Town and delivered a speech. Mr Cedric Frolick, House Chairperson for Committees, Oversight and Public Participation in the National Assembly, and Ms Chen Qing, President of the South Africa Soong Ching‑Ling Foundation, attended the ceremony alongside other Chinese community leaders and hundreds of teachers and students.

Consul General Ren extended condolences to the affected teachers, students and families. He noted that adversity brings true friendship, and the donation embodies China‑South Africa people‑to‑people friendship as well as the Chinese community’s fine tradition of mutual assistance in times of need. He encouraged young people to study hard and serve as envoys of China‑South Africa friendship. 

Mr Cedric Frolick commended the South Africa Soong Ching‑Ling Foundation for its long‑standing commitment to children‑related public welfare and active efforts to give back to local communities, expressing his hope for even stronger South Africa-China friendly ties.
